Media

Something on your “to-do list” that never gets done.

I have been thinking about, (without lifting one finger) working on doing TikTok, maybe instagram? I don’t know. Maybe making a video of some sort?

I haven’t much of an idea where to start, but I’m aware that it is an important step. Have I mentioned that I’m camera phobic? Well I used to be. I still don’t love being photographed.

Videography is something I like to leave to people who know what they are doing, which is so not me. I seriously don’t get the viral thing. What makes people want to watch again and again? I mean cute pets maybe, but yeah, I have a lot to learn.

  2. i’ve been studying this media stuff for over a year because I wanted to know how much depth, artist exposure and overall true earning potential there was in it – including wordpress. what I’ve found is that for the effort you put in, the payout is really minimal – but that’s a guaranteed at the beginning…or any beginning for the matter. and like most things, the big payouts (or engagements) aren’t really guaranteed regardless of how long you’ve been doing it. sure, you may have developed a kind of niche audience – which is advantageous in its own self but more often than not it doesn’t translate into anything tangible and lasting. Even legacy media faces this problem now more than ever. The only difference was, back then people were more reliant on TVs and their cable package and even that was competitive.

So why do I make that point? It’s to say that to get into the media game will be alot of hard work, a lot of time spent, and plugging away with a product that can get you noticed. I read your blog and you have a nice presentation and you’re actually doing something. Mine has…an identity, let’s just say. The difference is that you have something tangible to offer along with your proposed media campaign and that’s more likely to get picked up by Instagram or YouTube’s metrics observation computers.

Some things I’ve learned from this media stuff:

you don’t really need an expensive camera. if you have an iPhone, you should shoot your videos in the 4K 30fps setting. And you should shoot in really bright light.

you’ll also need a tripod to keep the video as stable as possible.

once you start making videos, just keep doing it. these new media platforms like consistency when it comes to people creating stuff. my posting schedule is every tuesday and friday. it helps to just keep posting and to just keep engaging with people and letting them know you have a product or a service that they would enjoy or that could help them out.

I know this sounds like the average internet article about social media, lol. I do really like what your page brings and I’ll subscribe to it! good luck if you do start a media campaign – it’s hard work, but as I’ve learned, it can actually be a lot of fun if you enjoy the process and the “groundedness” it brings.
